Hypnotherapy Questions

Q1. What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is a natural and simple way of helping you to overcome those things in life that are getting in the way. Be it anxiety, a phobia, or bad habits, I can help you to re-train your subconscious mind so that you can overcome whatever is holding you back, helping you on the road to achieving your full potential.

I will work with you in your initial consultation, to explore your issue, and how it has become such a problem for you. I will then create your personalised sessions, where I will guide you into a deep state of relaxation (the hypnotic trance) where we can challenge and change any subconscious thinking and beliefs that have allowed your issue to develop.

Maybe you have low self-esteem because you were bullied, and have learnt to believe what the bullies told you.

Maybe you have smoked for years because you believe that it helps you to cope with stress.

Hypnotherapy allows us to challenge this unhelpful thinking.

Q2. What is the hypnotic trance like?
It’s a calming and relaxing experience. You are entirely in control, I am simply guiding you. You can stop at any time. You will sit or lie down and we will use visualisation and / or other relaxation techniques to help you to achieve a deep state of relaxation and focus. Most people find it an enjoyable, peaceful and relaxing experience.

Q3. How does it work?
Hypnosis works by the therapist (that’s me) guiding you into the hypnotic trance. While in the hypnotic trance, your mind is relaxed but focused, and your brain waves slow right down. When your brain waves are slower, and any distractions disappear, we enter the subconscious part of your mind. You remain totally awake, in control, and conscious of what is going on. It’s a bit like watching a good film or reading an interesting book, when you are totally engrossed and focused, where the story becomes your reality for that moment, yet you can stop at any time you want, and come back to normal awareness. When you are in this trance state, I can help you to change the harmful thoughts and beliefs that you have developed in your subconscious. We can replace them with positive, helpful messages that will help you to achieve your goals and make the positive change that you desire.

So, your belief that you will fail at everything, can be changed to one that you can succeed.

A belief that childbirth is a painful and unpleasant experience, can be changed to one about how it is a natural, joyful experience.

All sessions are tailored to your specific needs.

I also teach self-hypnosis, so that you can continue to embed the changes into your mind and life, between our sessions, and once we have completed your therapy.

Q4. Is it right for me?
If you are looking for something that is natural, to help achieve your goals, then hypnotherapy is ideal. You do need to be highly motivated to make the change, it needs to be something that you really want to do. Like I said, you are in control, so if I tell you that you are strong and resilient, you need to want to believe me. For yourself, not for anyone else.

You need to be willing and able to invest time in your therapy, not only to attend weekly sessions with myself, but between sessions you need to practise self-hypnosis daily. This will support the work that we do and will greatly increase the chances of the therapy being successful.

Q5. Is it safe?
Yes, completely. You will be fully in control at all times. Hypnotherapy is not a medical intervention, but is a complementary therapy, which can be used alongside medicine. It cannot ‘cure’ anything, but it can change how you perceive and manage your issues.

It’s like a personal trainer for your life goals. I will be your motivator and your strategist, supporting you in the achievement process from start to finish. I’ll help you to work out what you want, identify your goals, put a plan in place to achieve them, and be your cheerleader to keep you on track to achieve what you want.

Hypnobirthing Questions
Q1. What is hypnobirthing?
Hypnobirthing helps to create the ideal, relaxing and calm environment for baby to grow and develop inside the womb, by helping you to release any stress, fear or anxieties surrounding the pregnancy and birth. Sessions focus on breathing techniques, visualization, information around the stages of birthing and teaching you self – hypnosis. We also use positive affirmations to assist you to focus on how giving birth is a natural and beautiful event. It is completely safe and you will always be in control. Hypnotherapy is great for helping to manage stress, and the less stressed you are, the healthier baby can be and the easier the birth process. I will be teaching you self – hypnosis in these sessions as opposed to me delivering hypnotherapy to you (unless you opt for package 2 which also allows us to have some personalised hypnotherapy sessions). I am not going to be with you when you give birth and therefore it is important that you are able to reach the hypnotic state by yourself / with the help of your partner.

Q3. Can my partner / birth partner attend the sessions with me?

Yes, of course, in fact I encourage it as they will be able to assist you to maintain your sense of calm.
